Visa free transit facility with single entry Japan visa

I’m traveling to Malaysia for 2 days. I plan to use Singapore’s visa free transit facility (VFTF) in both my onward and return journeys.
I have a single journey visa (SJV) for Japan that is valid until November 16th. I’m going to visit Japan in November only.
Am I eligible to use VFTF? Let me know if you need more information.

My itinerary is:
Sep 25th => India to Singapore <= Air India Express Airlines
4 days stay in Singapore (less than 96 hours)
Sep 29th => Singapore to Kuala Lumpur <= Jetstar Airlines
2 days stay in Malaysia
Oct 1st => Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. <= Scoot Airlines
2 days stay in Singapore
Oct 3rd => Singapore to India <= Air India Express Airlines

Please be advised that if you meet the requirements for the Free Transit Visa, you will automatically be granted the Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) during the immigration clearance process. Please note that entry approval is at the discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at the point of entry.

According to the official website of Singapore immigration, If you are in transit to or from any third country via Singapore, you may be eligible for the 96-hour VFTF if you meet these requirements:

Nationals of India

You may enter Singapore by any mode of transport but depart only via air or sea. You must have a valid onward air/ferry/cruise ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours; and
You must have a valid visa[3] or long-term pass (with a validity of at least one month from the date of entry into Singapore under the VFTF) issued by and/or good for entry into any of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • New Zealand

Today I received this response from Changi Airport’s customer support email enquiry@changiairport.com

I also submitted the same question in ICA’s feedback form and I received the below response today

The 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF) may be available to Indian nationals if they are in transit to or from any third country/place via Singapore. The information on our website ICA | Visa Free Transit Facility serves as a guide for visitors who may qualify for the 96-hour VFTF.Transit travellers who satisfy the criteria for VFTF will have to meet the prevailing entry requirements before they are allowed entry into Singapore.

However, please note that grant of entry or VFTF is notguaranteed. Every visitor’s entry will be assessed on own merits. Assessment for entry, including the grant of VFTF, is determined by the ICA officers only upon seeking arrival immigration clearance at the Singapore checkpoints.

It worked. I’m in Singapore now :tada:

I traveled in Air India Express from Madurai. In Madurai airport, they didn’t allow me initially as they didn’t aware of the VFTF facility. They let me in after a long conversation. I already prepared for it with all the documents and the emails I received above.

In Singapore, it was a very simple process. They just checked my onward ticket and Japan visa in my passport. Then they let me in via the kiosk lane without any further questions.
